Abure’s Sack: Nwosu withdraws from LP governorship primary, cites irregularities

Citing illegalities and indecent conduct by officials of the Labour Party, LP at the National and State levels, a frontline governorship aspirant of the party for the November gubernatorial election in Anambra State, Mr John Nwosu has withdrawn from the party's primary
Nwosu in a letter made available to journalists in Awka weekend said that those saddled with the responsibility of conducting the governorship primary election in the state fell short of the provisions of the Constitution of Labour Party, INEC guidelines and regulations.
Recall that LP had earlier fixed it's primary primary election for Saturday, April 5,2025.
Nwosu observed that with the Supreme Court sack of Mr Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party on April 4, 2025, all processes he supervised since the expiration of his tenure could no longer stand judicial scrutiny.
The Nnewi born governorship hopeful in a letter signed April 4 said, 'I reached the decision after a review of alleged CA illegalities and indecent conduct by officials of the Party at the National and State levels.
“I have decided to pull out of the Labour Party Anambra State Governorship Elections scheduled to hold today 5th April, 2025, due to gross and intolerable irregularities in the run up process.
"No verifiable delegates’ congress took place in any of the 21 LGAs of Anambra, yet a list of purported delegates emerged which was altered several times and published eight hours to the primary election.
"The outcome of the primary elections as scheduled will be tainted with severe irregularities, illegalities and will be unacceptable.
"I will not lend credence to the planned illegality by participating in the process.
"I wish to dissociate myself from participating in this primary election, which is already a charade contrary to natural justice, equity and good conscience.
“I stand ready to serve and participate in future political processes that are credible, transparent and fair."
