 Anambra Police Command arrests three suspected armed robbery gang, recover tricycle

Anambra State Police Command over the weekend rescued a tricycle operator who was attacked by suspected armed gang at Isuanaocha Bridge and recovered his yellow tricycle with registration No NZM 92 YH.




This was contained in a press release by the state Police Public Relations Officer,  PPRO, SP Tochukwu Ikenga on Tuesday and made available to journalists in Awka.


Giving details of the incident, the Police Spokesman said, "On 21st September, 2025 at about 2.20pm, the Command received a distress call on how a commercial tricycle operator was attacked at Isuaniocha Bridge by armed men who dispossessed him of his yellow tricycle with registration number NZM 92 YH.


"Police operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad swiftly mobilised to the scene, and the victim was rescued and rushed to the hospital where he is responding to treatment."


He said that three suspects were also arrested by police, acting on technology - guided intelligence.


The suspects namely, Kosisochukwu Nweke, 26years old, 24 years old Emmanuel Eze and 20 years old Osondu Ifeany, were all traced to Awarasi Village, Uga, in Aguata Local Government Area of the state. 


According to him, ,police recovered the stolen tricycle during the operation, while the suspects who attempted to escape on sighting the operatives, were given a hot chase and eventually arrested. 


He furthersaid that efforts are ongoing to uncover more leads related to their criminal activities, adding that they would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigations.
